Aircraft performs flawlessly in a 166 flight hour, around-the-world trek

GENEVA, Switzerland (May 15, 2012) – Hawker Beechcraft Defense Company (HBDC) today announced it has completed a two-month, around-the-world demonstration tour of the T-6C Texan II military trainer, showcasing the world’s most versatile and capable integrated pilot training system to a broad range of interested prospects throughout the Asia Pacific region.

The T-6C departed HBDC’s Wichita, Kan., headquarters and followed a route that circled the globe, including stops in Canada, Greenland, Iceland, England, Italy, Greece, Egypt, United Arab Emirates, India, Thailand, Singapore, Indonesia, Australia, New Zealand, Malaysia, Philippines, Japan and Russia before returning to Wichita the first week of May. HBDC’s aerobatic demonstration team performed single-ship, low-altitude aerobatics in the standard equipped T-6C in the Royal New Zealand Air Force’s (RNZAF) 75th Anniversary Air Show at RNZAF Base Ohakea at the end of March and in early April participated in the Warbirds Over Wanaka Air Show on the South Island.

“This tour allowed a wide cross-section of individuals and organizations to experience the T-6C’s capabilities,” said Russ Bartlett, HBDC vice president, Business Development. “Without exception, all commented on the ease of flying the T-6C – evidence of the aircraft’s excellent attributes for pilot training, as well as its inherent complexity in systems and maneuverability that can extend the training environment to teach and test pilots in the advanced phase of pilot training.”

On the tour, the aircraft accumulated 166 flight hours – 126 ferry flight hours and 40 demonstration flight hours – including performing seven air show display flights and 43 demonstration flights with military and government officials. The T-6C did not require any unscheduled maintenance on its around-the-world voyage and other than routine pre-flight and thru-flight inspections and refueling, The HBDC crew replaced one landing light, changed two main tires after 131 landings, performed a 100-hour inspection and added five quarts of oil. The T-6C burned 65,360 pounds of Jet A1 fuel over the course of the 166 flight hours, a burn rate of 393 pounds per hour, attesting to the low life-cycle cost the T-6C provides to military operators.

“We have a lot of confidence in the aircraft and along with the other components of the training system (the ground based training system and complete logistics support) we believe that Hawker Beechcraft’s T-6 Training System can meet the training requirements of any military air force around the world,” Bartlett said.

Deliveries of the T-6 began in 2000 after the aircraft was initially selected to fill the Joint Primary Aircraft Training System role for the U.S. Air Force and the U.S. Navy. Since then, additional military programs worldwide, including NATO Flying Training Canada, the Hellenic Air Force of Greece, the Israeli Air Force, the Iraqi Air Force, the Royal Moroccan Air Force and our newest customer, the Mexican Air Force, have chosen the T-6 as their primary trainer. To date, the company has delivered more than 760 T-6 aircraft.

GENEVA, Switzerland (May 15, 2012) – Hawker Beechcraft Global Customer Support (GCS) today announced a new order for its Hawker 400XPR. JoinJet, the Nordic charter and aircraft management company, is following yesterday’s agreement to purchase a Hawker 4000 with this order for a Hawker 400XPR as it seeks to expand its charters services. JoinJet and GCS also reached a follow-on agreement to provide high-speed data access on its Hawker fleet, which includes the just announced Hawker 4000, Hawker 800XPR, Hawker 800XP and the Hawker 400XPR.

The Hawker 400XPR upgrade combines the increased power of the Williams International FJ44-4A-32 engines with the superior aerodynamics of genuine Hawker Winglets. Also available are optional Rockwell Collins Pro Line 21™ avionics and a number of system enhancements that significantly improve performance, operating cost and resale value. The company anticipates certification in September 2012.

The Hawker 400XPR offers greatly improved range and airfield performance while reducing noise footprint and emissions and will be added to JoinJet’s Danish Aircraft Operating Certificate. The order was placed at the 2012 European Business Aviation Convention and Exhibition (EBACE) and joins a list of sales Hawker Beechcraft has announced since the opening of the event. JoinJet’s Hawker 400XPR is due to be delivered in the first quarter of 2013.

“JoinJet has been so pleased with the performance and operating costs of the Hawker 800XPR they took delivery of in the third quarter last year,” said Christi Tannahill, Hawker Beechcraft senior vice president, Global Customer Support. “They have great confidence in the Hawker 400XPR and are looking forward to adding it to their fleet next year.”

Kristoffer Sundberg, general manager of JoinJet, added: “We wanted to purchase a segment-leading aircraft with unmatched technology without having to sacrifice efficiency, so we are delighted to confirm the purchase of the Hawker 400XPR. With its greater range, increased performance and state-of-the-art technology – integrated with outstanding payload flexibility and value – we are sure the 400XPR will prove an invaluable addition to our fleet.”

Hawker Beechcraft offers customized XPR upgrade packages for existing Hawker/Beechjet 400 owners as well as XPR Factory Completed Aircraft for those who do not currently own an aircraft. Both the XPR upgrade and Factory Completed Aircraft include performance, cost and reliability enhancements that are available only through Hawker Beechcraft. Importantly, the enhancements are the exclusive factory-designed, engineered and supported upgrades available for the Hawker/Beechjet 400.

Using Inmarsat’s global satellite network, JoinJet’s upgraded aircraft will utilize SwiftBroadband to provide voice and high-speed data through a single antenna to the whole aircraft. SwiftBroadband enables all key cockpit and cabin applications, including in-flight telephony, VoIP, text messaging, email, internet and VPN access, as well as flight plan, weather and chart updates.

Sundberg added: “We have chosen to add the in-flight entertainment options, including the iPad solution, to our entire fleet to further enhance the customer experience and continue to be a market leader in the charter business.”

GENEVA, Switzerland (May 14, 2012) – Hawker Beechcraft Corporation (HBC) today announced a new order for its flagship jet. JoinJet, a Nordic charter and aircraft management company, is buying a Hawker 4000 to meet the growing demand for charter services from business owners across the Europe, Middle East and Africa regions. The order was placed at the 2012 European Business Aviation Convention and Exhibition (EBACE) in Geneva, Switzerland, and is the third Hawker 4000 order the company has announced since the start of the show.

JoinJet will be adding the Hawker 4000 – the world’s most advanced super-midsize jet – to its Danish Aircraft Operating Certificate. The aircraft will complement JoinJet’s current fleet that also includes a Hawker 800XP and a Hawker 800XPR.

“JoinJet’s choice of the Hawker 4000 is a testament of their previous experience with our aircraft and with the Hawker Beechcraft team,” said Sean McGeough, HBC president, Europe, Middle East, Africa and Asia Pacific. “This purchase reflects supports our positive outlook on what we view as an important region in Europe and demonstrates that we are ideally positioned to capitalize on the new opportunities arising in the area.”

Niels Sundberg, CEO of JoinJet, added: “We have been in the aviation market for more than 30 years and after a thorough evaluation it was natural for us to select the Hawker 4000. With its carbon-fiber composite technology, superior cabin comfort and low operating economics, the Hawker 4000 provides the value proposition we and our charter clients require.”

The Nordic region is an area where HBC has been particularly successful in recent years, with the company currently holding a 26 percent market share of the business aircraft population in which it competes. Denmark in particular is an important market for HBC and one that is continuing to grow, with the country seeing the third highest overall aircraft sales in Europe over the last three years1. Over that period the number of business jets registered in Denmark increased by 13 percent1. HBC believes the country will continue to present opportunities for business aviation driven by a growing population of high-net-worth individuals.

The Hawker 4000 is the flagship of the Hawker line: the composite fuselage Hawker 4000 sets the standard for quality, performance and value in the super-midsize business jet class. With a 3,280 nautical mile non-stop range and cruise speeds up to Mach 0.84, it features a sophisticated composite fuselage, all metal supercritical wing, powerful Pratt & Whitney Canada FADEC-controlled engines and state-of-the-art Honeywell Primus EPIC avionics.

GENEVA, Switzerland (May 14, 2012) – Hawker Beechcraft Corporation (HBC) today announced this year marks the 50th anniversary of its Hawker 125 midsize business jet series.

Company celebrates half a century of the best-selling midsize business jet series in the world

GENEVA, Switzerland (May 14, 2012) – Hawker Beechcraft Corporation (HBC) today announced this year marks the 50th anniversary of its Hawker 125 midsize business jet series. The Hawker 125 – one of the world’s first business jets – completed its maiden flight on Aug. 13, 1962, in the form of the Hawker Siddeley DH125 Jet Dragon and the first delivery took place nearly two years later on Sept. 10, 1964. Nearly 1,700 Hawker 125-series aircraft have been produced throughout the last 50 years.

“The Hawker 125 series is one of the most iconic business aircraft in the industry and we are proud to be celebrating such a momentous milestone in the program’s history,” said Ron Gunnarson, vice president, Hawker Marketing. “Its unique design allows for travelers to fly with absolute freedom, negating the need presented by some aircraft to sacrifice fuel, number of passengers or baggage when embarking on a flight. This, coupled with the 125 series’ renowned range, speed and comfort, makes it easy to see why the series has enjoyed so much success for five decades.”

The Hawker 125 series’ success continues today. According to data recently released by the General Aviation Manufacturers Association (GAMA), HBC delivered 34 percent of all 2011 aircraft in the medium jet category. “Continual refinement based on customer feedback is the key,” Gunnarson said.

The Hawker 900XP boasts a long list of high-technology enhancements, including new fuel-efficient engines, advanced aerodynamic composite winglets, digital cabin pressurization, auto-throttles, synthetic vision, enhanced vision, LED lighting, satellite weather and communications, and wireless cabin entertainment options. These advanced systems seamlessly integrate with a strong airframe with an unbeatable reputation. The Hawker 900XP offers unmatched cabin comfort, increased performance, range and efficiency at an unprecedented value.

The company will hold a series of special flights and activities to mark this milestone occasion, including a gala reception on Aug. 13 at the London Science Museum in Kensington, when aircraft owners from around the world will gather following the London Olympics to join in the celebration.

“With the closing ceremony of the Summer Olympic Games in London taking place the day before the anniversary, there couldn’t be a better way for the series to ring in this anniversary,” said Sean McGeough, HBC president, Europe, Middle East, Africa and Asia Pacific. “The 125 series has a very proud British tradition, with the majority of parts being manufactured in the UK, and we expect to see a large number of variants of the 125 series flying into London’s airports throughout the Games.”

HBC is displaying the Hawker 900XP at this week’s European Business Aviation Convention and Exhibition (EBACE) in Geneva, Switzerland, along with seven other aircraft from its product lineup.

GENEVA, Switzerland (May 13, 2012) – Hawker Beechcraft Corporation (HBC), the world-leading manufacturer of business, special mission, light attack and trainer aircraft, today announced the sale of a Hawker 4000 jet to InterAviation, a charter company based at Bucharest Baneasa Airport, Romania.

InterAviation caters to business travelers, government officials and families looking for transportation throughout the Middle East, Europe, Russia and Commonwealth of Independent States in particular. The Hawker 4000 – the world’s most advanced super-midsize jet – will be the second Hawker jet in InterAviation’s fleet and gives the company additional range, a larger cabin and more cargo capability to meet an array of missions.

“We are delighted to have added the Hawker 4000 to our rapidly expanding fleet as we continue to expand on the range of services and number of destinations we offer to our customers,” said Captain Octavian Pita, general manager, InterAviation. “It is our intention to provide an excellent level of service, comfort and efficiency which is why the Hawker 4000 was the natural choice for us.”

The Hawker 4000 is one of eight aircraft HBC has on display at this week’s European Business Aviation Convention and Exhibition (EBACE) in Geneva. The flagship of the Hawker line, the composite fuselage Hawker 4000 sets the standard for quality, performance and value in the super-midsize business jet class.

“This is the second jet InterAviation has purchased from us in many years, having bought a Hawker 900XP last year, and we look forward to strengthening our relationship with this fast-growing operator as it continues to capitalize on the demand for business aviation in the region,” said Sean McGeough, HBC president, Europe, Middle East, Africa and Asia Pacific. “Eastern Europe is a key market for us and this sale reflects our view that the region presents significant opportunities for growth.”

Within Eastern Europe, Romania presents HBC one of the best growth markets in the region. While its business aircraft fleet may still be relatively small – with 20 based in the country – it has already grown rapidly in recent years with a three-fold increase in deliveries between the first half of the past decade and the second half. HBC believes that the size of the fleet will continue to grow quickly. Between April 2011 and April 2012, Romania saw a four percent increase in business flights1, representing the ninth largest annual increase in Europe.

GENEVA, Switzerland (May 13, 2012) – In an effort to meet the increased demand for jet/special mission conversions, Hawker Beechcraft Global Customer Support (GCS) today announced that its Hawker Beechcraft Services facility in Chester, United Kingdom, has developed and certified air ambulance interiors for installation in Hawker 900, 800 and 700 series aircraft. The facility recently delivered its first modified medical evacuation (Medevac) conversion Hawker 900XP midsize jet to a customer in Saudi Arabia. The conversion enables the aircraft to quickly switch between business and medical support flights.

The facility was recently tasked with taking a VIP configuration of its Hawker 900XP best-selling midsize business jet – which can fly up to 5,200 kilometres with eight passengers – and design a system enabling it to undergo a role change from VIP to Medevac when needed. The key requirements were for this role change to be made in less than an hour to keep aircraft downtime to a minimum and allow quick response to medical requirements, as well as ensure that the aesthetics of the VIP layout were not compromised. The conversion was successfully completed in just two months and received full approval from both the European Aviation Safety Authority and the General Authority of Civil Aviation of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia before being delivered to the customer.

“This was a very demanding request and our team in Chester responded successfully with the design and implementation of a highly-integrated system that fully met the customer’s requirements,” said Christi Tannahill, Hawker Beechcraft senior vice president, Global Customer Support. “With our center of technical excellence in Chester, we expect to be delivering many similar conversions in the region over the coming years.”

The Hawker Beechcraft Chester facility was chosen because of its experience and knowledge of the Hawker platform. The facility has been modifying Hawker 900, 800 and 700 series aircraft for nearly 50 years.

Hawker Beechcraft has a long history in Medevac production, having manufactured nearly 40 percent of all airplanes currently registered to air ambulance operators around the globe – almost twice as many as the next manufacturer. The majority are King Air and Hawker 900, 800 and 700 series aircraft; however, nearly all Hawker and Beechcraft products can be converted to air ambulance and completed at the company’s factory-owned service centers.

Headquartered in Wichita, Kan., Global Customer Support is dedicated to improving the value of Hawker Beechcraft aircraft by employing products and services to simplify aircraft ownership, reduce operating cost and increase resale value. GCS is comprised of five functional groups that include Support Plus (cost predictability/warranty programs), Hawker Beechcraft Parts & Distribution (genuine factory parts), Hawker Beechcraft Services (factory-owned service centers), Technical Support (Field Support Representatives, Hot Line specialists and Technical Publications) and Global Mission Support (government business and special mission maintenance/training support).

GENEVA, Switzerland (May 13, 2012) – Hawker Beechcraft Corporation (HBC), the world-leading manufacturer of business, special mission, light attack and trainer aircraft, today announced Malta-based flight operator Orion-Malta has ordered a Hawker 4000 jet to meet the growing demand for charter services from business owners across the EMEA region.

Orion-Malta will be adding the Hawker 4000 – the world’s most advanced super-midsize jet – to its Luqa-based Air Operators Certificate; the aircraft will complement Orion-Malta’s current fleet that includes a Hawker 900XP. Hawker Beechcraft has both a Hawker 4000 and Hawker 900XP on display at this week’s European Business Aviation Convention and Exhibition (EBACE) in Geneva.

“We are delighted that the Hawker 4000 is Orion-Malta’s aircraft of choice to support its growing charter offering across Europe, said Sean McGeough, HBC president, Europe, Middle East, Africa and Asia Pacific. ”This purchase reflects our positive outlook on what we view as an important region in Europe and this deal demonstrates that we are ideally positioned to capitalize on the new opportunities arising in the area,”

Orion-Malta Director Boris Ioffe added: “Our customers expect the best service from us, which is why we selected the Hawker 4000 from a range of aircraft available to us. The Hawker 4000 stood out due to its exceptional cabin comfort, storage facilities, additional range and unrivalled technology. Another key factor in our decision was the global support service provided by Hawker Beechcraft, which we are sure will give our customers the peace of mind to enjoy their flight, wherever their destination.”

HBC sees Malta as a key growth market within Europe for a number of reasons: firstly, its geography allows for swift business travel to mainland Europe, North Africa and the Middle East. Malta also boasts some of Europe’s lowest initial and recurrent fees associated with business jet operation. Lastly, its membership in the EU means that jets registered here have freedom of movement within the other constituent states. This, coupled with its residency laws, makes it the perfect base for non-EU buyers to register their planes, and HBC expects a growing number of non-EU citizens to take advantage of Malta’s unique proposition for business travellers.

Orion-Malta is a European airline company registered and licensed in the Republic of Malta. It holds an Air Operator Certificate (AOC) No. M11, effective from Aug. 4, 2009, and a license for charter passenger transportation (ASL). The airline’s head office is located in the City of Valletta, Malta, and there is a permanent representative in Moscow, Russia. The airline maintains its own fleet of aircraft, and performs flights to any part of the world.
